Ardour - Digital Audio Workstation

The Ardour Digital Audio Workstation is a free and open source application developed by Paul Davis and others at ardour.org

The version presented here is a custom build created by linuxDSP with some additional features and enhancements not found in the original.

Requirements: A PC running the linux operating system, and the JACK audio server.

LinuxDSP Ardour

The download package is a pre-compiled binary designed to run on most linux distributions. It comes with its own universal installer and all the required dependencies. These are entirely self-contained and should not conflict with any applications or system libraries. The linuxDSP Ardour package is designed to be installed alongside other Ardour versions and should not affect their local configurations or settings. However, please read the information regarding project compatibility.

IMPORTANT: Project / Session Compatibility
This build of Ardour adds some features not found in the original Ardour2 build. This means additional information will be stored in its project / session files. Although it will open projects from other Ardour builds, please be certain to backup any sessions before opening / editing them in this version of Ardour.

Features:
linuxVST / VSTi support   VST plugins compiled for linux are supported, together with live MIDI input for VSTi instruments.
LV2 plugin support   Add functionality with LV2 plugins
Graphical Enhancements   Editor / Mixer graphical UI enhancements
Pre-compiled Binary   Package contains all required libraries for most modern distributions and its own Universal Graphical Installer application.

The package comes with its own universal graphical installer which should be compatible with most modern linux distributions. The source code is also available for those wishing to compile their own binaries.
If you build / install the application from the source, please be aware that it is likely to conflict with other versions of Ardour.

SUPPORT:The forums at ardour.org are a good source of information regarding setting up and use of the software. However, as this is a custom build, please contact linuxDSP first either by email or via our forum so that we may determine if an issue is specific to this build.

IMPORTANT:This software is still under development, and will be updated regularly. For those wishing to compile the software, the source code is available but we are unable to offer any assistance with compiling / building it.
